Anomalous Hall Effect

This photo I took several years ago in the Yellow River where it passes the city Lanzhou. It is one of my best photos for a vortex. Today it serves as the best illustration for me on the anomalous Hall effect. The vortex here either represents some structure in k-space or a magnetic impurity with spin-orbit interaction. The following picture shows the anomalous Hall effect that takes place in a vortex of the spin order (Skyrmion):

This was taken in a park in Tokyo, Japan. Breeze passed over a lake, and the waves follows the breeze. We can view the breeze as a perturbation to the water surface (Fermi surface), either can be an external AC stimuli, or long wave length perturbations such as magnons and phonons.
In different materials, or the same material under various conditions (temperature, magnetic field), the scenery at its Fermi sea will be of totally different beauty. That is one thing I enjoy most from my experiments.
It may be as fierce as an ocean in cold and strong winter wind,

It may be as peaceful as a summer morning,
Or the same piece of sea in full sunshine,
Various types of harbors,

Or a still pond with lotus,
Or even hot spring.

Thanks to those various beauties of water, I am able to continue appreciating the beauty of transport experiments in solids. It is more than just measure a resistance.
